One of the things we (Bahrainis) love talking about: "OMG SO MANY CUPCAKE PLACES IN BAHRAIN LOL WTF SO SAD WE'RE SO UNORIGINAL I HATE US WEEEEEE"
We all do it. It's okay. No shame.
If we stop complaining, what else can we possibly do?
Pit them against each other.
That's right, BAHRAIN'S CUPCAKE WAR. I'm getting goosebumps just thinking about it.
So here's the deal: A tournament of cupcakes with a bunch of random fatties as judges. You wish you thought of it first.
I managed to collect the names of 50 cakey places in Bahrain; they were reduced to a measly 24 after it turned out that some of them don't exist anymore or are almost impossible to contact.
So first message to Bahraini businesses: JESUS CHRIST HOW HARD IS IT TO KEEP YOUR FACEBOOK/TWITTER UPDATED? You can't get business if people can't find you.
It was a relatively annoying process, and I suspect there will be more of that when the time comes to order the cupcakes for judging.
To keep the judging as scientific (I use the term loosely) as possible:
- Only two cupcake places will be judged in any round (except the final round, which will have three).
- Judges will only TASTE the cupcakes when judging (not eat all of it), to avoid saturated taste buds.
- Two different cupcake flavors will be tested per cupcake shop: one flavor that both places offer and another randomly chosen flavor.
1- Each cupcake will be scored out of 10 for flavor. The average of both cupcakes will be taken.
2- Extra points will be given to the company that has superior: Presentation, Accessibility, Menu, and Value for Money. After this, each company will have a score out of 20.
3- The judges will separately score each company. The scores (out of 20) will be added to give each cupcake business a total score out of 100.
It will make sense eventually.
The names in the tournament bracket are tentative and will probably change around often.
BRING ON THE CUPCAKES.
