Subscription Box Review: ComicBoxer (Box 2)

Subscription Box Review: ComicBoxer (Box 2)

Subscription Box Review: ComicBoxer (Box 2) is part of the Subscription Boxes review series. All photos are taken by Ali Haji Photography.

Here’s how it works:
We’re going to try out two subscription boxes at a time, for three months each. I’m constantly compiling a list of boxes that ship directly to Bahrain (no freight-forwarding cheating), and will randomly pick out boxes from the list, so there's going to be a variety of things coming in for review.

Now, time for our latest package:

Well, this is a pretty Marvel-heavy box. It's a good Marvel box, but it was disappointing not to see any DC titles since we're big fans of DC as well (it can be argued that we're a majority DC household), so it'll definitely be a disappointment for someone expecting at least one DC gem. They're all #1s, other than the Archie's Superteens at #2, completing the two-part story that they started us with last month, which is a consistency that I appreciate. And with that signed Ghost Rider with an accompanying Certificate of Authenticity? This box definitely ticks the brackets in terms of resale value. But we can't hide our personal disappointment in the lack of DC, so this isn't a fantastic all-around box like month one.

Still, the Archie’s Superteens is an exclusive with another homage to a classic title, Die!Die!Die! is written by Walking Dead writer Robert Kirkman, The Amazing Spider-Man #1 is a Jamal Campbell variant that pays tribute to the first appearance of Deadpool (which we got signed at New York Comic Con, thank you very much), and Cosmic Ghost Rider #1 is signed by its artist Dylan Burnett.

Remember when I reviewed Box One and said that I was so excited to delve into every issue since they're all #1's? Yeah, that didn't happen. Here's hoping that I get into them soon because we're looking at a slow pile-up - which is the story of my life, really.
