Subscription Box Review: KissMe (Feb 2019)

Subscription Box Review: KissMe (Feb 2019)

Subscription Box Review: ComicBoxer (Feb 2019) is part of the Subscription Boxes review series.

Here’s how it works:
We’re going to try out two subscription boxes at a time, for three months each. I’m constantly compiling a list of boxes that ship directly to Bahrain (no freight-forwarding cheating), and will randomly pick out boxes from the list, so there's going to be a variety of things coming in for review.

Now, time for our latest package:

KissMe by LiveGlam - (Month 1: February 2019)

KissMe is a lipstick subscription box by LiveGlam, who offer subscription boxes for makeup brushes and eyeshadow palettes as well. All makeup is made by the LiveGlam brand, so it’s definitely not like your typical makeup subscription boxes, which are usually curated samples from both popular and up-and-coming brands around the world.

Cost of box: 7.55 Bahraini Dinars

Cost of shipping: 1.51 Bahraini Dinars

Total Cost:  BHD 9.05

What's in Box 1:

Look, I know the risk of ordering a makeup subscription box where all the lipsticks come from ONE brand that I’d never heard of before. If you watched the unboxing video above, you’d know I was very underwhelmed with the color choices that were given in the box. In LiveGlam’s defense, though, you are allowed to “switch out” the shades you don’t like for alternative colors before the box ships. I didn’t do that ‘cause I wanted to get the originally curated set, and now that the second box has already shipped, I realize I should’ve tried that for the March box, but whatever.

The colors are underwhelming, but I'll chalk that up to the "Valentine's Day" theme. The formula is horrendous... At first, you think the lipstick is great because it glides on smooth, but then you immediately realize that the color never completely dries. In a weird contradiction, the color also NEVER LEAVES. It can stain you for days on end. I still have the swatches stained on my arms despite the generous amount of makeup remover I've applied. It's very drying so your lips will be grossly chapped by the end of the day.

I'm going to do ONE more box instead of two more boxes because the first one was so bad. Fingers crossed for the March box.
